New Hope Borough, resident population approximately 2300, is seeking a Chief of Police. New Hope Borough is a popular Bucks County riverfront visitor destination rich in history, the arts, and local culture. The Borough takes great pride in the exceptional diversity of the local community. The successful candidate must posses the ability to work cooperatively with elected officials and the municipal administration, as well as the ability to partner with and balance the needs of a diverse group of residents, businesses, and civic leaders. A demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in modern police operational and administrative practices, exceptional leadership skills, as well as the ability to effectively and efficiently manage the provision of law enforcement services to a small diverse community that is a popular tourist destination is required. Candidates must be not less than 21 years of age at the time of appointment and have served at least 12 years as a certified police officer, and possess a minimum of 5 years of administrative and supervisory experience at a sergeant or higher level within a similar or larger-sized department.

A minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Police Science, Criminal Justice, Police Administration, Public Administration or related field is required. Graduation from the FBI National Academy, Northwestern University School of Police Staff and Command, the Southern Police Institute, or other recognized and equivalent law enforcement training is preferred.

The successful candidate must pass a physical and psychological examination and drug screening, as well as the ability to meet and maintain a level of fitness consistent with the department's physical fitness standards, including an annual physical examination. A thorough background examination will be conducted. The candidate must be currently certified under Pennsylvania Act 120 (53 Pa. C.S.A. § 2161), or be eligible to receive certification within 60 days of employment. Residency within 20 miles of the border of the Borough of New Hope within one year of employment is required. Salary is dependent upon qualifications.

The Township of Haverford is a vibrant suburb Community of Delaware County, Pennsylvania, with a population of 50,000. The Township is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Chief of Police.

The successful candidate must possess a proven record of community and organizational leadership, outstanding executive management skills, successful experience implementing community policing programs, a record supporting a team based management style, a history of successful innovations, experience implementing current technology in department operations, and expertise in effective community relations and customer service programs. The Haverford Township Police Department operates with a $12 million budget, 70 sworn personnel and 45 non-sworn personnel.

A Bachelors degree is preferred but not required, along with extensive knowledge of current issues in police management, public administration, or related field is preferred. 10 years increasingly responsible service as a sworn police officer with significant command experience in a community of not less than 50,000 population; certifiable by Police Standards and Training; can demonstrate a comprehensive program of continuing professional development; and, will require polygraph, drug screen, and job performance assessment. Salary depends on qualifications, with excellent fringe benefits. Candidate once hired would be expected to live in Pennsylvania within 20 miles of the Township. Tobacco Compliance Officer

Family Health Council of Central Pennsylvania is currently recruiting candidates for the position of Tobacco Compliance Officer. The Tobacco Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring retailers who sell tobacco products are not selling to juveniles. The officer will supervise controlled buys of tobacco products using a minor decoy. The officer will be responsible for prosecuting retailers and employees who sell tobacco products to juveniles. Successful candidates will be paid on a per diem basis. It is a part time position limited to less than 20 hours a week.

Persons hired for this position will conduct compliance checks of tobacco retailers in Potter and Tioga counties. They will supervise juvenile decoys and in some instances adult monitors who witness the sale. They will be required to collect, log, and maintain evidence received during compliance checks. Officers will be required to complete all reports as required in a timely fashion. Officers will also complete private criminal complaints on retailers and clerks who sell tobacco products to juveniles. They will be required to testify at legal proceedings arising from the prosecution of retailers and clerks. The officers will also comply with other related duties as assigned by the Tobacco Compliance Coordinator.

Job Requirements

All applicants for the job of Tobacco Compliance Officer must have at least 5 years of law enforcement experience. They should have good communication skills and the ability to work well with young people. Successful candidates will be required to provide their own vehicle, possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s license, and have a good driving record. They must also have current vehicle insurance that covers both driver and occupants. Officers hired for this position cannot use tobacco products and must be tobacco free for 3 months prior to their hire date. Successful candidates must pass a background investigation and complete a short training class.
