The University of Pennsylvania Police Department is seeking progressive

The ability portion of the Civil Service
Examination for the position of Police Officer with the Lancaster Bureau
of Police will be held on July 12, 2008 at 0830 hours.
The written test will follow at
1400 hrs. The testing will be conducted at the Franklin & Marshall
College Alumni Sports and Fitness Complex. The complex is to the rear of

BOROUGH OF NEW HOPE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
Public notice is hereby given that the Civil Service Commission of the
Borough of New Hope will be conducting an examination for new full-time
police officer(s) for the Borough of New Hope. Applications may be
obtained from the New Hope Police Department 41 N. Main Street, New
Hope, PA 18938 between the hours of 9:00AM – 4:00PM Monday through
Friday. Requests for an application through the mail must include a
business-size, stamped, self-addressed envelope along with the request
and application fee. The fully-completed application form and all
required documentation must be received, via hand-delivery or
certified mail, return receipt requested, by New Hope Police Department

6. Verification of high school diploma or graduate equivalency diploma (GED).
7. If applicant is requesting veteran’s preference under Pennsylvania
law, proof of honorable discharge from military service via provision of
a valid DD Form 214.
8. Non-refundable application fee in the amount of $50 PAYABLE BY
MONEYORDER ONLY to be paid at the time the application is picked up or
requested from the police department.
9. The written test will take place Saturday August 2, 2008 at 9:00AM
at the New Hope Solebury Middle School.
10. A written, physical agility and oral examination will be conducted
to promulgate an eligibility list.
11. Passing a background examination, polygraph and drug screen will be
a requirement. In addition, a medical and psychological examination will
be conducted.
The starting salary for a full-time police officer in the Borough of
New Hope is currently set at $35,457.00 per year. The Borough of

TOWNSHIP OF CUMRU

The starting base salary for
Probationary Officers for 2008 is $45,500 and 1st Class
Patrolman is $63,200.

Tobacco Compliance Officer
Family Health Council of Central Pennsylvania is
currently recruiting candidates for the position of Tobacco Compliance
Officer. The Tobacco Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring
retailers who sell tobacco products are not selling to juveniles. The
officer will supervise controlled buys of tobacco products using a minor
decoy. The officer will be responsible for prosecuting retailers and
employees who sell tobacco products to juveniles. Successful candidates
will be paid on a per diem basis. It is a part time position limited to
less than 20 hours a week.
Persons hired for this position
will conduct compliance checks of tobacco retailers in Potter and Tioga
counties. They will supervise juvenile decoys and in some instances
adult monitors who witness the sale. They will be required to collect,
log, and maintain evidence received during compliance checks. Officers
will be required to complete all reports as required in a timely
fashion. Officers will also complete private criminal complaints on
retailers and clerks who sell tobacco products to juveniles. They will
be required to testify at legal proceedings arising from the prosecution
of retailers and clerks. The officers will also comply with other
related duties as assigned by the Tobacco Compliance Coordinator.
Job Requirements
All applicants for the job of
Tobacco Compliance Officer must have at least 5 years of law enforcement
experience. They should have good communication skills and the ability
to work well with young people. Successful candidates will be required
to provide their own vehicle, possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s
license, and have a good driving record. They must also have current
vehicle insurance that covers both driver and occupants. Officers hired
for this position cannot use tobacco products and must be tobacco free
for 3 months prior to their hire date. Successful candidates must pass a
background investigation and complete a short training class.
