Physical Performance
Testing and Consulting:
Is this
necessary for my department?
While physical performance testing and physical education programming was
once viewed as an “extra” for police departments, it is now recognized as
proactive risk management. Today’s question is “what is your department’s
defensibility?”
Over the past two decades, the science and technology of physical
performance management has advanced to a point where we can predict with an
80-85% degree of accuracy whether an officer will be able to perform the
essential job functions, at a minimal level, based on a series of basic
physical tests.
Entry Level Police Officer Testing
- Designed to be cost
effective, safe and defensible. We are offering a valid physical performance
test for entry level police officers. We offer safe methods to test at your
facility or ours. All materials and equipment are provided by us.
Specialized Unit Testing -
Developing a SWAT team, dive team, bicycle team? We can assist your agency
in developing a safe and job specific fitness test for your applicant
officers.
Departmental Physical Education
Consulting -
Offering nutrition training, aerobic and resistance training programs and
stress management seminars. We can customize a program for YOUR department
that fits your department’s unique requirements, budget and schedule. If you
are participating in an accreditation program, we can help you develop a
valid program.
Departmental Benefits
The
first and most obvious benefit is one of “defensibility.” Defined this
means simply if sued how well you can defend your current practices. There
are levels of defensibility that range from reasonable to bulletproof. We
will offer services that coincide with this range.
Lower
insurance rates are another obvious benefit. Studies show a 44% reduction
in death from all causes for fit officers vs. unfit officers. This is a
powerful statement.
Additional benefits include improved officer attitude, higher level of
professionalism, improved self-esteem, improved stress management skills,
public respect, officer longevity and health, higher levels of officer
safety, and improved performance both physically and mentally.
