PUBLIC NOTICE
BOROUGH OF NEW HOPE CIVIL SERVICE COMMISSION
Public notice is hereby given that the Civil Service Commission of the
Borough of New Hope will be conducting an examination for new full-time
police officer(s) for the Borough of New Hope. Applications may be
obtained from the New Hope Police Department 41 N. Main Street, New
Hope, PA 18938 between the hours of 9:00AM – 4:00PM Monday through
Friday. Requests for an application through the mail must include a
business-size, stamped, self-addressed envelope along with the request
and application fee. The fully-completed application form and all
required documentation must be received, via hand-delivery or
certified mail, return receipt requested, by New Hope Police Department
on or before Friday, June 27, 2008 at 4:00 p.m. Applications
received after 4:00 p.m. on June 27, 2008 will not be considered.
The following requirements shall apply to all applicants:
1. Verification that applicant is at least 18 years old at the time of
application (Birth Certificate or other satisfactory evidence);
2. Verification of application for employment;
3. Photocopy of a current, valid motor vehicle operators license.
4. Applicant must be a citizen of the United States of America;
5. Verification that applicant has been certified to act immediately as
an active police officer in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania based upon
successful completion at the time of application of what is commonly
referred to as Act 120 training.
6. Verification of high school diploma or graduate equivalency diploma (GED).
7. If applicant is requesting veteran’s preference under Pennsylvania
law, proof of honorable discharge from military service via provision of
a valid DD Form 214.
8. Non-refundable application fee in the amount of $50 PAYABLE BY
MONEYORDER ONLY to be paid at the time the application is picked up or
requested from the police department.
9. The written test will take place Saturday August 2, 2008 at 9:00AM
at the New Hope Solebury Middle School.
10. A written, physical agility and oral examination will be conducted
to promulgate an eligibility list.
11. Passing a background examination, polygraph and drug screen will be
a requirement. In addition, a medical and psychological examination will
be conducted.
The starting salary for a full-time police officer in the Borough of
New Hope is currently set at $35,457.00 per year. The Borough of

TOWNSHIP OF CUMRU

Applications are being accepted for the position
of Police Officer for the Township of Cumru, Berks County, PA.
Applications are available at the Cumru Township Municipal Building,

examination, polygraph or Voice Stress Analysis examination, physical

medical examination, any other conditions by the Township of Cumru and
certification by MPOETC.
The starting base salary for
Probationary Officers for 2008 is $45,500 and 1st Class
Patrolman is $63,200.
The written examination will be held
at the Warren House Recreation Center (Cumru Township Municipal Building
Property), 1775 Welsh Road, Mohnton, PA 19540, on June 7, 2008 at
9:00 AM. To be admitted to the testing facility you must arrive no
later than 8:45 AM and photo identification will be required. No one
will be permitted to enter the testing facility after 9:00 AM. The

Job Description:
The Philadelphia Police Department has announced an examination for
the position of Police Officer Recruit. This recruitment drive is open
until midnight April 18, 2008
This examination requires the
candidate to take a civil service test. This examination is open
competitive, which means that it is open to all who meet the
requirements for eligibility. This is training level work in general
police activities involving the protection of property, enforcement of
laws and the investigation of crimes. An employee in this class receives
formal training for approximately 30 weeks prior to assuming full patrol
duties. Work is performed under the supervision of a police supervisor
and requires regular exposure to hazardous and/or unpredictable
conditions. The work requires frequent exercise of moderate, physical
effort.
Upon completion of training, the
Police Recruit graduates to Police Officer and is certified by the
Common wealth of Pennsylvania. The Officer will be assigned upon
graduating the academy to full patrol duties.
Test Date is scheduled for May
31st 2008. Test is only given in Philadelphia. Additional information

The Allentown Police Civil

Applicants for the
position of Entry-Level Patrol Officer must be age 20 (twenty) to apply
and must be age 21 (twenty-one) to become appointed and shall possess a
diploma from an accredited high school or a graduate equivalency
diploma. In addition, every applicant must be a United States citizen,
be physically and mentally fit to perform the full duties of a police
officer, be eligible to receive certification from the Municipal Police
Officers Education and Training Commission (MPOETC), and must posses a
valid motor vehicle operator’s license.
The
average salary for a 3 yr. Patrolman is $ 48,546.00 with

Tobacco Compliance Officer
Family Health Council of Central Pennsylvania is
currently recruiting candidates for the position of Tobacco Compliance
Officer. The Tobacco Compliance Officer will be responsible for ensuring
retailers who sell tobacco products are not selling to juveniles. The
officer will supervise controlled buys of tobacco products using a minor
decoy. The officer will be responsible for prosecuting retailers and
employees who sell tobacco products to juveniles. Successful candidates
will be paid on a per diem basis. It is a part time position limited to
less than 20 hours a week.
Persons hired for this position
will conduct compliance checks of tobacco retailers in Potter and Tioga
counties. They will supervise juvenile decoys and in some instances
adult monitors who witness the sale. They will be required to collect,
log, and maintain evidence received during compliance checks. Officers
will be required to complete all reports as required in a timely
fashion. Officers will also complete private criminal complaints on
retailers and clerks who sell tobacco products to juveniles. They will
be required to testify at legal proceedings arising from the prosecution
of retailers and clerks. The officers will also comply with other
related duties as assigned by the Tobacco Compliance Coordinator.
Job Requirements
All applicants for the job of
Tobacco Compliance Officer must have at least 5 years of law enforcement
experience. They should have good communication skills and the ability
to work well with young people. Successful candidates will be required
to provide their own vehicle, possess a valid Pennsylvania driver’s
license, and have a good driving record. They must also have current
vehicle insurance that covers both driver and occupants. Officers hired
for this position cannot use tobacco products and must be tobacco free
for 3 months prior to their hire date. Successful candidates must pass a
background investigation and complete a short training class.
